This Monday evening a large group of Bob Ross fans assembled at kwartzlab, eager and ready to plunge into the world of oil painting by participating in our class led by Katherine Marchione. I have to admit, this time around the subject matter was definitely more challenging than our previous class. There was a lot of brush cleaning- causing us to run out of the odourless paint thinner early in the evening. Luckily this being kwartzlab, we had a supply of limonene on hand. However, the strong citrus scent quickly took over the room. Lesson learned: invest in the odourless thinner when working with a large group of people!
All in all I think everyone ended up with a pretty good painting they can call their own! These works of art will take a minimum of one week to dry, so we’re keeping them safe at the lab until then. Looking forward to hosting another session this fall where I think we will go back to painting happy little trees.
I am proud to report that our class sized doubled since our first Paint Along. Thank you to all the attendees for coming out, and hope to see even more new faces at the next one! Check out the photos below to see the paintings in progress, and some final shots of everyone’s work.
And here are the finished paintings!
